Taking public transportation teaches me a lot of things. As usual, I took the bus to go home after class. It was a quiet trip in the afternoon. When I got on the bus, there were only a mom and a boy sat on the priority bench in the left-hand side. I headed straight towards the row which was adjacent to the exit door. Being mindful gave me a chance to carefully observe and dissect more details in each scenario. The mom seemed to be burned out and so upset. Her face looked soulless and impotent. I could sense that she was trying to push her sorrow deep down inside and being strong for her son. Unfortunately, it was too obvious to cover it up.
After some minutes sitting still consistently on the bus, her eyes turned red and tears uncontrollably began to fall down on her cheeks. "Mom, are you sad?", the boy innocently asked his mother while adorably was leaning his head on her thighs. He knew that his mother was unhappy; therefore, he was determined to comfort and cheer her up. It was such an incredible moment to see!
Please do not assume that kids know nothing. In contrast, they know most of things. The way that they perceive and interpret life is very simple and straightforward. In addition, they receive the direct impact from other subjects which they interact with.
I wish I could do something to support and help them feel better. Unfortunately, I was incapable of. This was a great motivation for me to move forward and improve myself so that I will more knowledgable, strong, and brave to help myself and other people to overcome obstacles and be happy!
